 Within Catholic religious orders, both men and women also took a stand against the injustice of the Nazi regime. In Tyrol, communities such as the Franciscans, the Sisters of the Holy Cross, the Third Order Sisters, the Sisters of Mercy, and the Salesian Sisters of Thurnfeld continued their religious and social missions despite surveillance, repression, and forced closures. Many provided refuge to the persecuted, rejected ideological conformity, or resisted the inhuman goals of the regime through their work in care, education, and pastoral ministry. Their resistance was often quiet but effective—motivated by conscience, faith, and compassion.
