Priest · Resistance · Concentration Camp Survivor

Eduard Lexer, parish priest in Winklern, was arrested by the Gestapo in 1940 and deported to concentration camps without trial. For five years he endured the hell of Dachau, Neuengamme and forced labor camps.
He survived his liberation in 1945 with broken health. He succumbed to the long-term effects of his imprisonment - a hepatitis infection contracted in the camp - in 1951 at just 45 years old.
His fate reminds us never to forget the victims of Nazi tyranny.
