The English version of the publication "KZ-Dachau Prisoner Number 14354" is not yet available. The book Dachau Concentration Camp – Prisoner Number 14354 preserves the personal records of Dr. Ernst Verdross (1892–1963), a jurist from Hall in Tyrol and a member of the anti-Nazi resistance. After his arrest by the Gestapo in 1938, Verdross was deported to Dachau Concentration Camp, where he was assigned prisoner number 14354. After the liberation in 1945, he wrote his memoirs documenting his imprisonment and providing a powerful account of persecution, violence, and everyday life in the Nazi concentration camp system. His writings are an important historical testimony and a significant source for research into resistance and persecution in Hall in Tyrol. read more:www.zukunftsfonds-austria.at/projektinfo.php?pcode=P25-5807 Your browser does not support viewing this document. The Warning Legacy of Prisoner No. 14354 Book Presentation and Reading: “KZ-Dachau Prisoner Number 14354” – Dr. Ernst Verdross HALL. On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 7:00 PM, a book presentation will take place at the former Schneiderkapelle (WIDER.STAND, Franz Reinisch Platz 1). Admission is free, but space is limited. The focus of the evening will be the newly published book *“KZ-Dachau Prisoner Number 14354”* by Elisabeth Walder, which preserves for posterity the shocking contemporary document of Hall NS resistance fighter and jurist Dr. Ernst Verdross (1892–1963). In 1938, the regime-critical Verdross was deported to the Dachau concentration camp, where he was assigned prisoner number 14354. Immediately after liberation in 1945, he wrote the “KZ-Dachau Protocol” – a brutally honest reckoning with the reality of the camp, which specifically urges young people to critically engage with the history of National Socialism. His legacy is the urgent warning: “Such atrocities must never happen again.” The protocol, a central source for Hall's local and resistance history, came into the editor's possession by chance after a lecture and was entrusted to her by the Verdross family for academic processing. The book now published makes this important document of remembrance culture accessible to a broad public for the first time. Program:
