"Commemorating Resistance: A Digital Exhibition on Anti-Nazi Opposition in Hall in Tirol"
The people who joined the resistance did so for various reasons—some wanted to fight against the oppression and discrimination of certain groups, while others opposed the war and violence perpetrated by the Nazis. In any case, their goal was to overthrow the Nazi regime and build a free and just society.
This raises the question: Can we learn from history? We all know the standard answer to this question: "The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from it." However, we can take away the lesson that we must tell the stories of the past to preserve democracy and ensure lasting peace.
That is why this website will commemorate individual acts of Nazi resistance by both women and men in Hall in Tirol, as well as the Hall resistance group. The aim of this project is to present a virtual exhibition in digital form, featuring both historical sites and personal interviews about family histories related to Nazi resistance in Hall in Tirol. To this day, it is the first scholarly effort to remember and honor the women and men of the Nazi resistance in Hall in Tirol.
