In: Private archive of Dr. Paul Torggler Innsbruck.&nbsp;</div>  <h2 class="wsite-content-title"><strong>Dr. Adolf Rauch (1914&ndash;2006)</strong></h2>  <div class="paragraph"><strong>Adolf Rauch</strong>&nbsp;was born in&nbsp;<strong>1914</strong>&nbsp;into a farming family in the&nbsp;<strong>Lechtal region of Tyrol</strong>. In&nbsp;<strong>1926</strong>, he enrolled at the&nbsp;<strong>Franziskanergymnasium in Hall in Tirol</strong>, where he became a member of the Catholic student fraternity&nbsp;<strong>Nibelungia in 1931</strong>. After graduating in&nbsp;<strong>1935</strong>, he completed his mandatory year of service in the&nbsp;<strong>Austrian Federal Army</strong>&nbsp;while simultaneously beginning his&nbsp;<strong>law studies at the University of Innsbruck</strong>. On&nbsp;<strong>October 17, 1935</strong>, he joined the&nbsp;<strong>Vindelicia student fraternity</strong>&nbsp;in Innsbruck.<br /></div>  <h2 class="wsite-content-title"><strong>Defiance During the Nazi Takeover (1938)</strong><br /></h2>  <div class="paragraph">In&nbsp;<strong>March 1938</strong>, Rauch actively&nbsp;<strong>resisted Nazi encroachment</strong>&nbsp;on Vindelicia. To protect the fraternity&rsquo;s heritage, he smuggled its&nbsp;<strong>banner and valuables</strong>&nbsp;in a large suitcase to his family&rsquo;s farm in Lechtal, hiding them under a haystack. However, the act was&nbsp;<strong>betrayed</strong>, leading to his&nbsp;<strong>arrest in Innsbruck</strong>&nbsp;that autumn. He faced:<br /><br /><ul><li>A&nbsp;<strong>ban on education</strong></li><li><strong>Detention</strong>&nbsp;under SS guard, who escorted him to Elbigenalp to confiscate the hidden items</li><li>A&nbsp;<strong>miraculous release</strong>&nbsp;after the head of the SS commission&mdash;a former comrade from his army service&mdash;intervened</li></ul><br /></div>  <h2 class="wsite-content-title"><strong>Post-War Life</strong><br /></h2>  <div class="paragraph">In&nbsp;<strong>1945</strong>, Rauch&nbsp;<strong>escaped from a Yugoslav partisan prison camp</strong>&nbsp;and returned to Tyrol.
